A lot has been happening since our last update! Nicolas found his hands/fists last Tuesday and had been sucking them ever since! It's really funny to watch him look at them and try to get them in his mouth:)
We headed down to Ark City for Thanksgiving, our first trip!!! Once we were down there it was a perfect weekend. The drive there (construction and a wreck) and home took 4.5 hours when it usually takes about 3!!! I fed him in the car both ways at the back of parking lots hoping no one would come up to the car or see everything from their own cars:) So, when he is on a longer feeding schedule it should go a little more smoothly! He really showed all of his talents (smiling and "talking") this weekend with everyone there, he did great! Tim, Beth (Tim's sister), Scott (Tim's brother), and myself went shopping on Friday (a tradition they have had for a while and I joined when we were engaged) and Nicolas stayed with Oma (Tim's mom) for the afternoon. He did awesome and we got most of our Christmas shopping done, yeah!!! FYI, he also slept through the night on Friday night which was an unexpected treat! I fed him around 9:30 pm and he slept until about 7:00 am!!!
Once home on Saturday, we all went as a family to pick out our Christmas tree! This is a tradition that my parents started with Grant and I; on the way home from Thanksgiving we always stopped at the tree farm, cut down our tree and decorated it when we got home. Tim and my tradition consisted of going to Home Depot, and picking one out there, bringing it home to dry out (it had snowed) and decorating it on Monday. Close enough and it still looks good:)
Over the weekend Nicolas also turned 2 months old!!! We can't believe it. He had his doctor's appointment yesterday and he was 10 lb 10.7 oz (we thought he was at least 11 lb according to our scale at home), and 23 1/2 inches long! He is following his curve perfectly (as stated by the doctor) and he is doing everything he should be doing! He got 4 shots (mom cried again). He was fine when we got home, I fed him and he took his nap. When we got him up from his nap, gave him a bath, and tried to feed him, all hell broke loose!!! He was screaming mad from about 6:30-8:00. He fed for a little bit and we put him down for the night and went to bed, crossing our fingers that he would wake up in the night normal....and he did!!! All is good, but that was our most stressful time yet!
We are very excited to continue to see the changes every day. We look forward to his baptism this Sunday and our first Christmas as a family of 3!
