Well, we have had quite a week of firsts. Slowly but surely, Nicolas has started to smile! He's had a couple little ones all week, but we saw some real ones this morning that will go in the baby book:) We were laying in our bed, I was pumping and Tim was talking to Nicolas and we received some pretty big smiles, almost laughs! It was so much fun to see this especially since Tim was home, I guess Nicolas was waiting for the right time!
Earlier this week, in preparation for Friday, Tim gave Nicolas his first bottle! He took to it pretty well and ate about 3 ounces, although it did take about 45 minutes to accomplish this, when it usually takes about 30 minutes to eat. Tim did say when he was done how much he appreciated me, which was very nice to hear!
And on to the survival story...Tim and I did a little Christmas shopping last night, by ourselves! Nicolas spent the evening (3 hours) at Bebe and Grandpa's house. We went to dinner and then did our shopping. It was very hard to leave, but Tim and I really enjoyed our time together and got quite a bit done. And, I don't think Bebe and Grandpa minded one bit that we went out. I had called mom earlier in the day to ask her a question, to which she replied, "Oh, good, I thought you were calling to tell us you changed your mind about tonight." We didn't and they had a good time. He was awake the whole time and they both got to feed him, he ate 4.5 ounces. So, it ended up being a good night (except he didn't sleep well, we'll blame that on Bebe and Grandpa:)!
